Blame One and hardworking producer J57 are back with their first release together in over four years. Titled “These Days,” the track also features Blu and Canadian singer Jaclyn Gee.The song comes ahead of the duo’s forthcoming sophomore album (the follow-up to 2013’s Walk In The Sun), and is co-produced by J57 and G Koop. Koop has co-produced massive hits like Migos’ “Bad & Boujee” and DJ Khaled’s “I Got The Keys.”
Blame One and J57’s project is expected to arrive sometime in 2018.
Returning with another soul-speckled original, Blu and Exile share the lovingly animated “Sold The Soul” video. A charmingly dusty, piano-led boom-bap track, “Sold The Soul” concerns the conflict between commercial appeal and artistic vision. Creatively dramatizing the central battle between Blu and his soul with gothic animation, the “Sold The Soul” video is a cosmic delight, grounded by Blu’s lyrics, which appear onscreen throughout the video. Directed and animated by Justin Herman
Ten years out from the release of their modern classic, Below the Heavens, and on the heels of their ten-year anniversary BTH tour and the just-dropped Before the Heavens album, Blu and Exile cap the year off with “Christmas Missed Us”. The duo’s Christmas single is vintage B&E, packed wall-to-wall with Blu’s signature flow and the sort of soulful, swung beat we’ve come to expect from Exile.
This holiday season, grab your copy of the single on picture disc 7″ vinyl, backed by the instrumental, and limited to 300 copies — available only at FatBeats.com.
“Christmas Missed Us” appears on the Amazon Original Playlist “Christmas Soul.” Listen at amazon.com/christmassoul
