“‘Black Hockey Players’ was originally going to be featured on my follow up to 2010’s ‘Revelations’ with Florida producer Numonics, but due to creative differences that project was never released. It was later changed to a 10 song EP under the title “BHP”, but due to schedule conflicts the project was never completed/released. We’ve decided to release the song now because music is made to be heard, and BHP needs to be heard and shared with as many people as possible. It’s by far my favorite collaborative track. Black Hockey Players is not a rap group or a collection of emcees, it’s a concept, a motto to live by. “Black Hockey” represents doing something that is not expected. When you hear the word hockey the last thing one thinks of is “black people”, which is why I call myself a “black hockey player”, because my music is not made to conform to normal standards or meet generic expectations of what a hiphop artist should do or say. Anyone can be a “black hockey player”, regardless of ethnicity. It’s all about stepping outside of the box and doing something different. This is the real, authentic and official version based on my vision and brought to life with the help of Ras, Blu, Asia, Twiz, and BeatnickDee.” – CashUs
Fashawn and Alchemist are back at it again this time releasing a 7 song EP today titled “FASH-ionably Late”. The project is available for free exclusively at DatPiff.com. The 2 decided to do a follow up to their “Antidote” mixtape to prepare the audience for Fashawn’s highly touted Sophomore album “The Ecology” which is scheduled for an early 2015 release through Nas’ Mass Appeal Records. On this track Fashawn describes the delay’s for his album and how “it’s just a matter of time” before the world hear’s “The Ecology.”
